bri amaranthus is a freelance journalist. She covers the dallas cowboys and mavericks for most-viewed and watched sports illustrated website. An emmy-winning reporter, Amaranthus prides herself on forging relationships, telling stories that create connection and showcasing her friendly and playful personality.

From a small town in southern Oregon, Amaranthus grew up playing softball and dancing. She lead her softball team to two class 6A State Championships, which garnered local media attention. Amaranthus loved the interview process and realized heR dream to pursue journalism.

After playing softball for University of San Diego, Amaranthus transferred to University of Oregon to attend one of the top Journalism Schools in the nation and be closer to her father, who was diagnosed with esophageal cancer (by the way, he beat the odds and is healthy today!). Amaranthus graduated on the Deans List with a Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Electronic Media (broadcast news emphasis) and Public Relations with a minor in Business Administration.

A successful seven-year career with NBC Sports Northwest ended with the decision to take a chance and explore Dallas, Texas. At NBC Sports NW, Amaranthus’ versatility proved to be a strength, excelling in different roles as prime time host, beat reporter, social media manager and digital media producer. Her achievements include:

  • Content Creator for the most-viewed team website on Sports illustrated, surpassing digital traffic goals by an average of 40 percent, monthly.

  • Increased website traffic by 750 percent in 2019, 500 percent in 2018

  • The most read/watched reporter during football season

  • Co-host of NBC Sports NW’s first ever one-hour daily prime-time show

  • Emmy winning producer and reporter for “All-Star Coach” special

  • Developed and implemented social media tactics to help achieve marketing goals

  • Managed two social media coordinators and educated staff on social media strategy

  • Shot and edited video, produced live remote sets and other production related duties

Known as the GIF queen, Amaranthus’ career highlights include: the first College Football Playoff, NBA playoffs, a Final Four run, Rose Bowls and nationwide features. Amaranthus also took a stab at accepting roses as a contestant on the Bachelor.
